The Derby Water Division operates to provide the El Paso Water Company water to nearly 8,900 customers in the City of Derby. Established in the 1950s, the company was originally owned by a group of local stockholders. Today, all of the company’s stock is owned by the City of Derby, and the Derby city council acts as the board of directors.
The company's president is the city manager. The vice president is the director of public works. The secretary/treasurer is the Derby finance director/city clerk. Water service can be turned on the day following request for service or the same day in an emergency situation. If residential or commercial water was turned off due to a disconnect, service can be restored the same day prior to 3:30 p.m. Water will be turned back on once the past due balance has been paid, including a $30 late fee.
