How do I become a Derby Volunteer Firefighter?
Volunteer applications can be found on the department's website or they are available at either fire station from 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Applicants are interviewed in December and accepted recruits will begin training in January. Recruit classes run for 14 weeks and are held on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.. FFI/HazMat OPS is a requirement within one year of successful completion of recruit class. EMT is required within two years of successful completion of recruit class. All firefighting equipment and uniforms are provided.
