The purpose of the 2022 Derby Parks Master Plan is to guide the department for the next 15 years and provide strategic direction and vision with specific plans for the redevelopment and expansion of parks and open spaces, facilities, and recreation opportunities offered to the community.
The Derby Parks Master Plan offers strategies and operational policies that provide guidance in order to meet the needs of current and future Derby residents.
A consistent theme throughout the development of this plan is Derby Parks’ commitment to a quality parks system that delivers high-quality parks, trails, and facilities, and supports outstanding recreation programs and events for all residents, while contributing to the quality of life of the City of Derby.
The Parks Division is a part of the Public Works Department and maintains all city-owned properties. This includes managing more than 382 acres of parkland, 20 developed parks and 14 green spaces; including playground structures and a variety of equipment and landscaping.
