Annual Report on Water Quality
The Consumer Confidence Report serves as the annual quality report about the water in the City of Derby. During the 2021 and 2022 calendar year, the City of Derby had a violation related to reporting. During the second and third quarter of 2021 and the third quarter of 2022, the City of Derby did not correctly complete the sampling process for disinfection byproducts of Haloacetic Acids (HAA5) and Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM) as required by the Kansas Administrative Regulations. This is not an emergency and as our customers you have a right to know what happened and what we have done to remedy the situation and prevent it from happening again.
In 2021, Laboratory staff sent in samples for analysis to the KDHE Laboratory. Due to delays by the shipping agent, the samples were not received at the appropriate temperature for analysis rendering them invalid.
In 2022, Laboratory staff sampled at an incorrect interval. The third quarter samples were not taken in the correct month.
To learn more about water, attend a Water Board meeting on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 611 Mulberry Rd. Meetings are also broadcast live on our Channel 7 Page and Derby Channel 7 (Cox cable customers only). The are also streamed live and available to view the following day.
