The Reality of Emergencies

In my former position as the Deputy Director for Sedgwick County Emergency Management, I had the unfortunate experience of responding to the tornado that touched down northeast of Derby and hit the City of Andover causing extreme damage. You hear us preach preparedness, but the concepts we teach hit like a ton of bricks when faced with an EF-3 tornado.

I started as a patrol officer and soon found my love working with students in the three years I was the Adopt-A-School officer at Swaney Elementary.
